Chinese rugs are very popular home furnishings item sold world wide. Antique Chinese rugs were made with Persian knots and senna knots. With the development of new manufacturing techniques and fabrics, rugs were made with large and coarse designs and a deep pile.

In the modern times, Chinese rugs are generally made in plain colors, with floral and dragon patterns. These designs are the main characteristics of the Chinese rugs.

Designs
Manufacturers make use of ancient motifs, cultural symbols, fruits and flowers for designing rugs. Ancient Chinese symbols are often used in bright colors of red, green and yellow for creating eye catching designs. Abstract and geometric patterns are also widely used.
