Sheets are identified according to types based on thread count: 124, 128, 130, 140, 180, 200. Of all the types, 140 represents the best quality, higher durability. The higher the thread count, the closer and more uniform the weave is. Compactness of the weave also ensures greater resistance to wear and tear.

Sheets are widely used as a home furnishing and generally manufactured in two types:
- Flat Sheets
- Fitted Sheets : A "fitted" sheet is made and sewn to match the shape of the mattress. Both the sheets are made to fit five typical size mattresses: crib, twin, dull/double, queen and king. The style and patterns may vary. These sheet may be woven or knitted from a variety of materials.
